SC 3 is our intermediary program, designed to give talented writers that extra push.
Taught by industry relevant writers , and vetted by experienced teachers, SC 3 is the ideal platform for the 10 – 12 age group.
In SC 3, students begin to examine aesthetic qualities. They find ways to represent emotion, and learn to use symbols and metaphors.
At SC 3, our trainers teach students to put themselves in the place of others. This has ramifications beyond being a writer. Students learn to consider the perspectives of older and younger, foreign and local. They learn how to describe things as they are perceived.
SC 3 introduces students to mimetic writing: the process of showing, rather than telling. This helps students to craft engaging stories, and to heighten their awareness of body language. They learn the significance of the gesture, the sigh, and the casual nod. With this understanding, they create whole characters and personalities.
SC 3 students learn to explore deeper themes and philosophies. They contemplate the meaning of freedom, the bonds of family, and the nature of confidence. They become analytical thinkers, and their work addresses questions of being.
SC 3 allows for a more freeform approach. Students are taught to open up, and experiment with plot and representation. That doesn’t mean that standards are lowered, however; SC 3 prompts students to be self-motivated.
